A young woman in her pregnancy has contracted the swine flu virus. She has been admitted to the hospital in the early of March 2010.

After October the number of swine flu cases has been found to drop off drastically and from the month of January there was zero cases of swine flu said the professor Paul Kelly.

13 major hospitals all over the country are taking part in the influenza complications alerts network in order to monitor the spread of the virus.

Dr. Kelly have asked those who have still not got their flu shots against the virus, especially those who are in the high group should get their flu vaccines from the GPs.

From the start of this year 50 cases of swine flu has been reported in Australia. New advertising campaign was set by the Federal Government yesterday to urge people to get vaccinated.

The swine flu campaign will be in print and in radio until the end of May. The main aim of this campaign is to make people understand the risk of the swine flu virus

With the 50 confirmed cases of swine flu this year the Federal Government is urging people to get their flu shots in the news advertising campaign.

Federal Health Minister Nicola Roxon said this is not an ordinary flu. Since this flu affects the younger and the healthier people. And in 2009 there were 37,636 confirmed cases and 191 swine flu associated deaths.

He also said that there were 5,003 people hospitalized with 682 ICU admissions in Australia. All this is linked with the swine flu.

The experts have warned the people that the virus would cause bulk of the infection all over the country this winter.

Swine flu is often a serious threat to pregnant women and their babies, an Australian study has confirmed ahead of the national pandemic.
According to a study on 2009 seasonal flu one in ten women in Australia and New Zealand needs admission in ICU for swine flu infection and then later died.
The study also shows that the virus has claimed the lives of babies of those infected women.

The study has calculated the additional risk that the pregnant women might face during the outbreak.

In comparison with the general population the effect of the influenza seems to be increasing in pregnant women.

During the study seven moms and babies died of swine flu.

On Friday the players of Newcastle knights and supporting staffs were vaccinated. This step was taken to prevent the entire team from the swine flu.

Knight’s players and supporting staffs were vaccinated to fight against the swine flu on Friday. Dr. Mark Foster CEO of GP Access has congratulated them for taking the decision to get the flu shots.

According to GP access there has been 191 deaths and 700 admissions in the ICU in Australia till date.

The above mentioned statistics include the pregnant women and native Australians.

He also said that flu shots are very important to the people who are in the high risk group.

H1N1 virus stills a threat to young children. Warning comes from Sydney West Area Health service.

The health area of the Sydney west area said that children below the age of 5 are more likely to be affected by swine flu and they need hospital treatment.

It also suggests the inoculation with the panvax vaccine which is one that has been approved for the children between the age of 6 months and 10 years.

Vicky Sheepeard the health service said that the panvax is made to be free to the residents of Australia from their GP.

So parents are strongly recommended to contact their GP or local immunization clinic to arrange for the vaccination to their children. Pregnant women and people suffering from the chronic diseases can also get this vaccination.

It is time to get an appointment to get the flu shots for the year 2010.

The vaccine was expected to be made available from the beginning of March but due to the supply problem now it is expected to be made available at the end of March.
The appointments made for the beginning of March have been canceled and the letters have been distributed.

This time the vaccine is made available to twice as many recipients as usual which will protect the public from the flu likely to attack in 2010 which also includes the swine flu virus that has been predicted to return to Australia at the beginning of winter.

Pacific Islands can diagnosis swine flu infection from home. A new partnership has made this possible.

A new partnership has made the United States affiliated Pacific Islands to diagnosis the swine flu infection at home itself instead of sending the sample far away for testing.

The partnership is made between the Pacific Islands Health Officers, Hawaii’s Department of Health, and the Association of Public Health Laboratories.

On Tuesday the department said that this agreement will fund for testing in 10 laboratories in the Islands.

The United States affiliated pacific Islands are Guam, Northern Marianas, American Samoa, Palau, Marshall Islands, and the Micronesia.

Transporting the samples for testing takes a long time and is also complicated. It can also humiliate the specimens which delays the testing.
