Five more people would have died in Egypt. The total death rises to 224. The health ministry said in a statement.
A statement issued by the health ministry said that five more people would have died of swine flu in the country. And the total number of deaths goes to 224.
The recent victims were a 3 months old baby, 2 year old woman, 27 year old woman, 49 year old woman, and 62 year old man. And the ministry reported 1,000 new cases of swine flu infection in the past week. With this the total number of infected cases rises to 15,000 since the first case detected on last June in the North African nation.
The World Health Organization has suggested Egypt as a potential breeding ground for the virus if it fails to take the action immediately. In the last report of the WHO that was published on January 15, 2010 it has mentioned North Africa, south Asia, and east and southeastern Europe as the most intense area of the H1N1 virus transmission.
The ministry further added that the peoples working in the airport, mail services, traffic officers, students and those have their day in traveling are those who are exposed to the virus immediately.
The ministry said that they have planned to import 3 million doses of swine flu vaccine from Glaxo smith klim and then import the remaining 2 million doses after seeing the results.
